Gefilte fish, salmon croquettes, sushievery culture mashes and molds flaked fish into a "cake". The result completely transforms the source. So garnish with a couple of scales.
I often say that I want my paint surface to look edible. The process of encaustic painting, even more than oils, feels like the icing on a cake. I like the marriage of content and medium. In all of my work I love to make visual puns.
